I’m a busy mom to 5 children. We have now lived in New York for 3 years after living in Sweden for five years. My husband is a scientist and keeps taking us to cool places. One such cool place was Israel, where we spent 6 weeks visiting while dh did research. I started this blog to record our adventures in Israel. Now it is a forum for me to share further travel adventures, book reviews, and musings about interesting articles I read.
I love traveling, writing, scrapbooking, and sleeping. Oh and eating is pretty amazing too!
If you would like more info about how I came to be in Sweden, this entry tells my story.
One of my readers was curious how I become a traveler and I realized I have never clarified that. I just assumed that most people looking at my blog knew me and my reasons for living abroad.
I had never traveled outside of the U.S. (well, there was the week in Cancun, Mexico) but had longed to see the world. My husband and I (both BYU grads) moved with our two boys (2 3/4 and 1) to Sweden so that dh could pursue a PhD in Physics. Dh had served a mission in Sweden and had always hoped to return.
Living in Sweden has been an AMAZING experience. I have learned so much about culture, myself, life, government, politicals, socialized medicine, etc. We have made great friends here. I even learned how to speak Swedish. I actually very proud of that. My grammer is poor, but I can understand almost everything and hear and a 90 % of what I read. I just hope I don’t lose it.
A great deal has happened to us during the 5 years we have lived in Sweden. We have had two more children here, a boy and a girl (after 3 boys!).
At the beginning of 2007, we lived in Israel for 6 weeks while my husband did collaborative scientific research. I started this blog to record that experience and share it with friends and family. You can click on the category Israel entries to read about our adventures.
I write this blog to record our experiences with different cultures, food, and places. I love taking daytrips throughout Sweden and sometimes, Denmark, and relating what I have seen. I still have a lot to catch up on. The last 4 months have been full of interesting trips that need to be recorded. So I must get to work!
Now we live in New York and I find the cultural transition a bit difficult to navigate. But I’ll manage.
Sorry this was long. Brevity was never my strong suit.
Hi, fint att höra att ni är tillbaka i Sverige – eller hann du bara inte uppdatera sidan här? Hur är det med er? Hur leker livet i NYC? Har det nu blivit det? Hör av er… Era meschuggene ex-granner
